Mr. Justin R. Scott - 6th Grade Teacher
I was born and raised in Indianapolis and grew up attending Warren Township Schools. I have three wonderful sisters and have always been inspired by my parents' unselfish service to others. I graduated from Warren Central High School '02 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ball State University '06. I started my teaching career in 2006 teaching 4th and 1st grade in Warren Township Schools for three years. In the 2009/2010 school year, I joined the outdoor education team for the Boy Scouts of America and served as the Volunteer Coordinator educating adult leaders on the best practices of teaching Scouts. In the 2010/2011 school year, I decided to return my greater passion of inspiring young people to do great things. I have been so blessed to be a part of St. Luke Catholic School ever since. I currently teach 6th grade Science and Literature.
Every summer since 1999, I have worked at Ransburg Scout Reservation on Lake Monroe in Bloomington, IN. I have held positions such as Counselor, Scoutcraft Director, Firecrafter Director, and Program Director. As a kid, I grew up in Scouting earning Eagle Scout, the Minisino Honor, and Vigil Honor. I still have a few volunteer positions with Scouting including the Top Advisor to the Scouting Service Fraternity (Firecrafter) and serve as an Assistant Scoutmaster in a local unit.
My favorite colors are teal and purple and favorite animal is the fox. I love watching and rooting for our hometown teams, the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and the Indy Eleven. As a kid, I was obsessed with the NBA and looked up to athletes like Reggie Miller, Larry Johnson, and Julius "Dr. J" Erving. My favorite childhood books include Oh the Places You Go, The Lorax, Where the Wild Things Grow, and The Monster at the End of This Book. The book I love reading aloud the most is The Book With No Pictures, and I absolutely love teaching The Hobbit, Wonder, and The Giver.
A few of my awards and recognitions include: The Silver Beaver, District Award of Merit, Golden Apple Nominee, Young American Award, Named one of one hundred most influential Scouts in Indiana, and inducted into the Hoosier Scouting Hall of Leadership.
